My School Is Cool

Okay, so it's not really MY school - but it is my kid's school. I'm sending out kudos and goodness to PG Jr High this morning.

Yesterday I had the privilege of sitting in on presentations from different departments at the Jr. High.

Originally these presentations were arranged so that the teachers could receive their first-ever bonus money from the state.

Needless to say -- no more money

But the departments went ahead and prepared presentations to deliver to a small group of parents explaining how they are educating our children and in what ways.

What a GREAT opportunity this was!

PGJHS is mastering the art of teaching. They are using student data to plan and compensate for areas of concern. There are steps in place to help at risk students and to reward students who are more advanced.

Take a minute to visit the school's website. The stakeholder's report is great! And while not everything is perfect, I feel great about the steps being made to quickly fix areas of concern.

I have great respect for the administration and several teachers at the school who are trying so hard for my child and everyone else's! Thanks!!!

You are better person than I am. Instead of posting about the awesome meeting we had yesterday, I went on about the Grim Reaper. Dang.

This was a very informative meeting. If anyone out there would like to know what their school is doing to help their child, check your school website out.

By the way, if you have a kid at the local junior high, really, check out the website. They were asked by the district to do a presentation on their website because it is really well done.

I am so bummed I spaced it. Jen had told me about it and invited us to go sit in on the presentations. Dang it. I am so glad you went. I agree with your assessment 100%.

We have been so blessed with good teachers and school in town. I am constantly amazed when I hear what the schools/PTAs/Teachers are doing for our kids.

I went to a similar meeting on Monday and feel the same way about our teachers at Central! I was amazed and impressed and wowed by the way teachers used all the resources available to them! And then I told them when they call each other by their first names it boggles my mind.
