How I Spent My Summer Vacation

I think the only thing our family can count as a Summer Vacation activity this year was going to Lagoon.

We went back on the 23rd of July (yeah, I'm THAT far behind on blogging).

I hoped the whole day was  going to be  EPIC so that the children would remember we did Something during the summer.

It started out pretty EPIC as the boys were getting along and really chumming it up!

We increased the incredible-ness of the day by sending the boys on the Samurai.

Of course, that was a little anti-climatic as they waited for vomit to be cleaned up before they could get on the ride. (ewww!)

And you can't get more EPIC than getting mom to ride Cliffhanger and getting Emma to go on WICKED!

That's just CRAZY EPIC!

And what puts the whole day over the top more than ending it on THIS ride:

That's me trying not to hurl!

Don't worry, I kept the whole EPIC theme as I vomited all the way home.

Sorry to Farmington, North Salt Lake and Draper for leaving a trail of EPIC in your city.

Happy Summer Vacation Kids!

Alive!

Just wanted to let you all know I'm still Alive. . . .

Jumping into summer has been a little hard.

We started with

2 Scout Camps,

2 Weeks of Swimming Lessons

220 Swim Team members looking for suits & stuff,

130 Triathlon participants,

2 weeks left at Symantec,

1 Unfinished Rock Wall,

1 Falling down deck,

1 Shed that needs to be built

1 Boat to be sold

1 Car to be sold

3 Children to be nagged into jobs

And 7 days left until I run RAGNAR again!

My "Alive" status may not last very long.

Things to do Before Summer Ends

I got a cool list in my email a few weeks citing 21 different things to do before Summer ends.

I seriously considered doing all 21 of the things, as well as adding some of my own.

But the first day of summer has already KICKED my BUTT ~

I'm wondering if instead of 21 things to do I should just choose one . . . .

SURVIVE!

On the off chance that tomorrow is a better day here's the list of 21 things -

1. Take a Hike
2. Read a Biography
3. Make Real Lemonade
4. Host a Neighborhood Block Party
5. Go on a Field Trip
6. Sleep Outside
7. Go to a "Dive-In" Movie (movie at the Pool!)
8. Take A Dip (go swimming)
9. Have a Yard Sale
10. Eat Homemade Ice Cream at Sunset
11. Attend a Concert in the Park
12. Go Horseback Riding
13. Visit an Amusement Park
14. Attend a Festival
15. Shop at a Farmer's Market
16. Pick Fresh Fruit
17. Clean Up a Park
18. Build a Fort
19. Attend a State or County Fair
20. Go Stargazing
21. Complete a Triathlon

I'll keep you posted on how I do - and feel free to let me know when you do one of these things too!

The Perfect 30 Minutes

I have had the most amazing 30 minutes! And I get to have this same amazing 30 minutes every day for the next 2 weeks! And all it cost me was $20!

This perfect half hour is called . . . Swimming Lessons. Yes, I took Emma to her first swimming lesson today at the public pool. Josh and Ethan 'wanted' to stay home and clean their room. So I grabbed a large, cold Diet Coke and my new book (and Emma) and headed to the pool.

It was *magical*! I sat in a chair all by myself with no one bugging me, sipping my favorite drink and reading a book. The sun toasted my legs and toes and all the sun-induced endorphins zipped along and made my heart sing! I was so happy having these minutes to myself I very nearly cried ~ OK, it was the awesome book I am reading that made me cry. ["Once Upon A Town" is a non-fiction story about North Platte, Nebraska during WW2, recounting how fabulous people can be!]

At the end of the 30 minutes I felt refreshed! Emma asked, "Mom, did you watch me?" I admit I lied . . . "Sure, honey, I watched you -- you did awesome!"

I can't wait to go again tomorrow!
