Jeff passed this on to me after he took the 'test' and did NOT see the gorilla. I, however, did see the monkey.
Does this make me superior in our marriage relationship?
1. If Jeff is relaxing, watching t.v. and the kids are running around wild and half naked -- I now believe him when he says he didn't notice.
2. When I ask Jeff to do the dishes and he does them while stepping over a piece of garbage on the floor -- I now realize that he can only tune into one task at a time and doesn't see the garbage.
3. If you are the type of person who see's gorillas and are married to someone who doesn't, you can probably expect a few arguments.
Come on, tell me if you saw the gorilla? Did your spouse?

The gorilla was very distracting to me! But so is the garbage on the floor and the dishes in the sink AND on the counter and the food that is left out and the fingerprints on the fridge and the grease on the stove top and.........
ok, i did not see the gorilla..but Jeff did..but i know for a fact i can do more than one thing at a time. that is so funny.
No, I didn't see the gorilla, but my husband didn't either so maybe that's why we're good together? Although I suspect this doesn't really say much about us because he won't see KingKong sit in the middle of the room unless he is blocking a PGA tournament on TV:-) I on the other hand will definitely see King Kong! In the middle of the movie I was saying "what is that dumb ape doing" and Brent was yelling "where's the ball....where's the ball....I can't even follow the stupid ball"....SO what does that tell ya.
I think this is a really good thing for people to know about each other. Woo hoo1
Only an ape?! I could dance nekid in front of the TV and if GOLF was on, Genius Golfer wouldn't even notice. But subconsciously, he'd probably think he would get lucky later. Hummmmm.

So, I finally did this with Mike. He saw the gorilla, I didn't. And then I remembered having done this same experiment in the past where I did see the gorilla. So, maybe it just comes down to state-of-mind at the time. I can concentrate on the task at hand when I need to and multi-task if required. :)
